Welcome!
Welcome to my weight loss blog. No, that isn’t quite right. Because this will be about so much more than my number on the scale on any given day. Yes, I have lost considerable weight – 133 pounds so far. But I have gained so much more in the process! It would be hard for me to tell you the weight-loss part of my story without sharing the health improvements, both physical and emotional.
What I have learned, and continue to learn, is that I can trust myself to make good decisions about what my body and mind need to be healthy…to be happy. I still have more weight to lose and I still have more health improvements to look forward to. But like anything in life it’s all about the journey and not necessarily some end goal, some magic number on the scale.
My approach to weight-loss is to eat real food, get moving and get feedback on my progress. I rely heavily on research, knowledge and Google 🙂 and then take that information and experiment to see what works for me. So I hope you use this blog as your own research tool to see if my experiences can benefit you or someone you know who is on a similar journey to health and happiness.
With the advent of technology and social media it is easy to feel connection with others but at the same time it is so easy to lose connection with ourselves. I learned the art of distraction early on in my life by focusing on everything except myself. I would distract myself in healthy ways – reading, working, and exercising and in unhealthy ways – overeating, staying up too late and spending too much time on the computer. I would take on every problem I encountered as if it were my own leading to burnout and stress. Eventually it all caught up with me and I was left broken, disconnected and overweight. I hope you join me on my journey as I learn to connect with myself again – both physically and emotionally.
